Our 2009 vintage is once again 100% Cabernet Sauvignon with nothing blended. This full-bodied wine has a balanced, smooth structure that will continue to develop for years to come. It has a deep burgundy/purple color with aromas of plum, dark cherry, spice and toasty oak. This savory Cab is warm and inviting upon first sip with flavors of black cherry, clove, and cassis. The fruit nuances are supported by a long and graceful finish with some mild, yet sturdy, tannins. Simply put- it is a classic Napa Cabernet.

The 2009 Jeff Gordon Cab is composed of grapes from two mountain vineyards on opposite sides of the Napa Valley. Stagecoach Vineyards are located on the rocky, volcanic soils of Atlas Peak and Corbett Vineyards sit on a rocky hillside north of St. Helena in the Spring Mountain appellation.
The 2009 growing season was close to optimal. As winemaker Jesse Inman states, “Mother Nature worked her magic in ‘09, giving us ideal fruit evoking round, lush flavors. Late spring rains helped with the early summer warm spell and the temperate growing season without any heat spikes allowed the grapes to ripen evenly. This was the best scenario possible for me as a winemaker.” The moderate summer and near perfect autumn (with the exception of two worrisome October storms) gave the wines balancing acids to create a beautiful harmony with the plush tannins. The fruit was dry-farmed, which creates intense flavor and body. Bottled in July 2011, this Cab drinks wonderfully now and should develop for the next 6-9 years.
Decant this bold Cabernet to enjoy now or cellar it for the next several years for optimal bottle aging.
