Shipping, Payment and Weather Policies
Shipping alcohol is a complex process and is regulated by federal and state laws. Prior to placing your order, please read through the following information to ensure your wine is delivered in a safe and timely manner.
Our wines ship from Napa, California and Glenwillow, Ohio. We ship Monday-Friday, except on designated holidays and during monthly inventory periods. We make every attempt to pick, pack and ship orders as quickly as possible (allow 24-48 hours for processing from the time you place the order), but please be aware that there is no guarantee the process will begin the same day you place your order. We periodically experience heavy volume times, such as during the Thanksgiving-New Years season, which may increase the order processing timeline. In addition, please be aware that the carriers only deliver on weekdays, not on weekends.
Wine may be sold and delivered only to persons who are at least 21 years old and by law, an adult signature (21+) is required for delivery. By placing your order, you represent that you are at least 21 years old and that the person to whom delivery will be made is at least 21 years old. When your wine is delivered, the person receiving the package may be required to show identification proving that he or she is at least 21 years old. Wine will not be delivered to a visibly intoxicated person.
If possible, we recommend shipping to a business address where the package can be accepted throughout the day and week. Please note our packages are labeled as containing alcohol and require an adult signature -- so you may want check with your employer first. By law, alcohol cannot be shipped to PO Boxes or APO/FPO addresses.
Any rerouting of your order once it has left our facility is subject to a change-of-address fee of $20.
There can be no changes to your order once it has processed. An adult signature (21+) is required for delivery. Carriers will not leave packages unattended regardless of having a signature on file. They will commonly make 3 attempts at delivery. If at any time after your order has shipped you request a change of delivery address, you are subject to a $20 fee, as we are charged accordingly by the carrier. If the carrier has attempted to deliver your package unsuccessfully and it is returned to us, you may be credited for the original order amount, however, you will be responsible for the original shipping charges plus a $20 restocking fee. Please be advised that any credits issued may take 30-45 days after verification of the return.
We are only able to ship to states which have laws permitting shipment of wine directly to consumers and in which we currently hold the appropriate licenses. These states, at present, are:
Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
Even though we ship to the above listed states, in accordance with their respective state laws, there may be certain zip codes within somes states that we cannot ship to. Certain state laws regulate the amount of wine that can be shipped annually to a single person. If your order is affected, we will contact you.
States prohibited by law for the direct shipment of alcohol are: Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Kentucky, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Dakota and Utah.
At this time, we are only able to ship within the United States. In addition, our wines can be found in select retail and restaurant locations in North Carolina, Nevada, California and Pennsylvania. Please refer to the Retail/Restaurant page for information.
If you are shipping a gift, please alert the recipient so they can expect the delivery. We recommend shipping to a business address, as someone must sign for the wine delivery. Spoiling the surprise is a better alternative than spoiling the wine!
Monitor your order status and tracking each time you order. Please keep in mind that delivery days are generally Monday-Friday, not Saturday and Sunday.
Due to the complexities involved with shipping wine, we cannot guarantee the date you will receive your shipment under any circumstance. However, we will make every effort to get the wine to the designated party as soon as possible. If you require the wine to be delivered by a specific date, please clearly indicate this information when ordering.
When your wine order is picked up by the common carrier for shipping, responsibility for the wine becomes the responsibility of the purchaser.
We accept payment by the following credit card types: Visa®, MasterCard®, and American Express®. Jeff Gordon Cellars is not responsible for any fees, penalties, costs or expenses associated with insufficient funds or any charge or attempted charge to a credit or debit card.
Jeff Gordon Cellars and its affiliates assume no liability for wine damaged due to poor weather during transport or delayed delivery. Please check weather conditions prior to ordering and ensure that someone at least 21 years of age will be available to receive the wine upon delivery.
We ship year-round, though we do not ship on major holidays or on weekends. We recommend choosing overnight or 2-day shipping options during the summer and winter months, and also during extreme weather conditions any time of the year (i.e. heat and/or cold). We reserve the right to limit delivery options to expedited methods or to delay the release of shipments during such times in order to protect the integrity of our wine.
Although weather can at times be a factor, the most frequent cause of damaged wine is due to multiple delivery attempts – so we cannot stress enough the importance of ensuring there is an adult over 21 to sign for your order during the first attempt at delivery.
